Cheryl hummed absently to herself as she busily raided the fridge for ingredients to cook with. She'd just gotten home... Five minutes ago? And Alex still wasn't there! Ugh. He annoyed her so much sometimes... But what was she gonna do? That was a big brother's job. Right?
It was about seven o'clock, and she was safe inside Room number 106, not knowing anything on the whereabouts of her elder brother. Right now the only concerning thing on her mind was what she was going to make for dinner tonight.
She had just put a pan on the stove when she heard a knock at the door. Must be him, she thought cheerily, hurrying to the door. She opened it without caution, believing it to be Alex. Instead, a much older man, looking to be in his late-twenties, stood there. In a police uniform. "Um, what's the problem?" she asked, dread suddenly overcoming her.
"Is this the Hyasha residence?" His voice boomed with authority. "Yes. Why?" she asked, puzzlement crossing her features. "There was a murder in Diva Park today. The victim has been identified as Alex Hyasha." Just like that. With those simple words, this man had told her that her brother was dead. "W-what?" she gasped, fear ripping through her heart. "I'm sorry for your loss, miss." Now his voice was calm, emotionless. How? He'd just told her that one of her family members died! How was he staying so calm?
Cheryl felt tears brim in her eyes, and she remained silent as the officer casually walked away. "We have no leads on the case." he said over his shoulder. She hung her head, still standing in the doorway to their- no, her, apartment, letting the shadows of the setting sun bathe her face. Then she closed the door and went inside to grieve.
OOC: Lame. XD But still the longest post of mine on here. I think.
